My Skidsteer calls for Motor oil in the CC , would a non detergent oil not be better suited for this application! Detergent oils keep the crud in suspension and my thinking would be to let the crud settle out like a non detergent oil would do. Or am I missing something Thanks

Not sure it would matter that much. When moving, the oil will churn around quite a bit, so it will never really be able to settle as it will be mixed up.
Some people, myself included have added a magnet to the front of the chaincase to catch any metal particles floating around from bearing/chain or sprocket wear.
