We have a 231 bobcat and the machine is dropping rpms just sitting still from a full rev, also if its at max rpm and you quickly pull it to idle it sometimes will stall out. It all started from when my dad ran some bad fuel through it. We replaced the supply lines, filter and the inline filter. I took off the lines and cleaned them, and pulled off the plunger caps and they are clean inside. also removed the tank and had it cleaned. so i'm wondering if the return fuel lines could be causing this issue or if the injection pump could be ruined? any tips? I also took off the banjo fitting going right into the pump and check for a filter or screen and didnt see anything.

well an update for anyone wondering or reading with a similar issue. we currently have it torn apart some, relaced all return lines, hydraulic filter(just needed done), had injectors cleaned and popped tested, new thermostat, and coolant. so we are going to see if that will dot he trick. also we bought a small electric lift pump to see if that will aide the issue or if it will help with some power when its reving at full rpm. so i will post another update once we find a spot for it and get it installed. its just a small 35gph 4-7 psi pump from summit. kinda interested myself how it will run.

*fingers crossed* you have pretty well covered al bases there. It sounds like a fuel supply issue, you have done everything i'd have done and more.

well got it put back together last night and it ran fine. never missed a beat but i didnt run it hard, just in the driveway and operated the hydraulics quickly. but im starting to wonder if because the system is gravity feed if it isnt getting enough pressure or to fill the line to get the fuel up to the injection pump. casue we see the problem almost everytime we walk up the trailer ramps so im wondering if the fuel level/pressure is just our issue.

I'd have thought there would have been a lift pump in the line somewhere to provide some pressure to the injector pump....

Iwould have thought there would of been one too but even the service manual doesnt list one. but im not sure what it was but after doing this last round of parts it seemed to do it. we always noticed the significant power loss was when we were climbing up on the trailer, and the yesterday didnt do it at all and there wasnt that much fuel in the tank so im not sure what it was but we plan to install a lift pump unless we sell it soon in order to buy a newer/older 337!
