This machine has 750 hrs and was running fine. Was backing up when i heard whining noise, the low hyd pressure light came on and the electric brake engaged. I shut it down and looked for leaks. The hyd resivor is good and no leaks. Any ideas what the issue might be? If a pump issue, which one?

If the boom and bucket also quit working then the coupler between engine and hydro pump has failed or the hydraulic pump itself failed. There is no charge pump on this unit. It develops charge pressure by using a check valve in the hydraulic return line.

Its hard to tell whats working since the brake is engaged. Once it came on and stayed on i can't operate anything. Thanks.

After starting the engine and pushing the button to release the park brake your foot pedals should also be unlocked. If the pedals are unlocked and nothing works then you have a problem in the engine drive plate or hyd pump. I generally like to pull them with the parking brake on and just skid them. It is not a good idea to roll them on the wheels very far because the hydro motors are not getting oil. If you can get a trailer up to it and somehow pull it on the trailer that would be the ideal solution. You can release the brakes by teeing a porta-power into the brake hoses and pressurizing the cylinders.

What are your thoughts about running the machine when its making the noise? Do i risk more damage by doing so?

You need to determine where the problem is at which just about necesatates a start of the engine. You can do it quickly. Start the engine, push the button to release the pedals and move one of the pedals to see if the hyd is working. The noise you are hearing is probably the hydro shaft splines slipping on the drive disc. The damage is already done.

I relaced the hydraulic filter and pressure sensor on the housing just for good measure. Started the machine and was able to take the brake off but no movement or boom operation. It's still making a chirping noise from the pump area.

I found out its either the shaft or flex plate between tbe pump and flywheel. Is it easier to pull the motor or pump to fix?

Pull the pumps. You will probably need to replace the pump shaft also.
Tkanks. Any idea what the plate and pump shaft costs? Also, what would have caused this on a machine with so few hours? Im just thinking if this machine is tweaked somewhere i may want to get rid of it if its going to be problem child...

I would not be worried about it happening soon again. It could be that one or both of the pump mounting bolts came loose at some point. You could have also sheared the rivets out of the center drive hub of the disc. It is not a perfect world and things like this can happen to the best of us. You will probably be in the $550.00 dollar range for a shaft, disc and hydro seal.

Thanks. I appreciate the feedback.
