I recently purchased a 2005 bobcat s250 with 4k hours on it. I noticed the fuel gauge was reading empty, bone dry sitting on the peg empty. So i went to fuel it up and 5 seconds later it was gushing out of the spout full. I first checked the fuel fuse and i was good (unfortunately). Now i have started my search for the fuel sending unit and i have yet to find it. I have pulled the right side access plate off and raised the cab, but i can't seem to locate it. Am i heading in the right direction? Is it even the fuel sending unit? How do i remove it? Does anyone have any pictures of where it is located? Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

With the cab up in the air, look at the right side under the engine, it will be in a horrible spot to access, it generally is an engine out job to access. You may be able to do it without though, but don't bend the sender or it's busted. It screws into the fuel tank, it should have a hex head about 2" in diameter, not real easy to see, especially if the machine is at all dirty.

Are they similiar to the 873? The 873s is in a rough spot, but only took me 10 mins to change the sender.
My '06 T250 does about the same thing except if you fill it full, the gauge will go to empty. I will run it for a few hours and the gauge will then work it's way to full and be accurate ( I think ) until you fill to the top again. If I keep adding some fuel without filling it completely, the gauge works fine.... RussB
