So, still chasing the source of the mysterious engine code 06-18, but a bigger issue is presenting itself.
The machine appears to have good power in all ranges, but for some reason at times looses functionality of the joystic controls. The drive motors still function, and the aux ports, but the joysticks go dead. If you pick up the left stick assebly and put it back down it will most of the time reset, but the other day it took ten minutes to reset itself.
Any thoughts? Its almost like something is cutting power to the spool that control the rotator and boom.

When you lose power to joystick controlled hydraulics, do the joysticks feel flimsy? When powered up I notice they tighten up as they are charged with pressure. Maybe the pressure line isn't working? I'm not sure how the joystick system works....just looking at a hyd schematics for 331.

the joystick work off pilot pressure which is usually between 300-600 psi , I could get the spec out the truck for a 341 , when you put the left arm rest console down it trips a micro switch that sends signal to the stem coil and allows pilot pressure to go to the joysticks , it could be there is no pilot pressure for other reasons but I have seen where the stem coil goes bad and pilot pressure doesn't kick in , the coil is under the floor below your left foot and a little to the back , there are like 3 of them all close together , if I remember right there are two side by side and it is the one towards the outside of the machine , it can be worked on from the battery opening but it is very hard to get at -------the 341 is one of those machines that the cab has to be tilted to work on the inners , the kit to raise the cab doesn't come with the machine , it consist of a couple of hindges and a saftey rod , it use to cost $700 , last time I checked it was $1,700 --------------- the pilot safety stem coil or it's wiring curcuit is the most likely senirio

I found the issue. It was the main display panel (which is also the computer on this machine). $1k later the machine runs better than it ever has.
The combination of all the symptoms with no signs of wire chaffing or damages, and the fact I replaced the speed sensor and it still said the motor was running 7800 rpm led me to roll the dice on a computer. It worked instantly and now I am back in business.
Thanks for all the replies guys!

Sad that it cost you 1k to fix, but at least it's back to it's old self again.

Mike , next time you need parts for your 341 Bobcat go to a Terex , Sumatoma or Case dealer and you will save a bundle , Bobcat didn't build the 341 or the 347 , seems the engines can be different but everything else is the same
