I've owned my 630 for about 15 years now. It's never been a pretty sight, but it has always done what was needed of it. But it is getting a bit cranky and worn, so I've been thinking about tearing it down and cleaning it up. The current Wisconsin VH4D has its own share of issues and needs a rebuild. But I happened to pick up a Kubota D1402 pretty much for the price of scrap. It needs a little bit of work, but runs a heck of a lot better than the Wisconsin - and the X320 and truck are diesel, so the 630 is the odd one out. I've read the threads about the tapered shaft issue on the Wisconsin. I'm sure I can work something out to make the connection to the Kubota. But the other issue is the Wisconsin is air cooled while the Kubota is going to need a radiator. The Kubota is significantly smaller than the Wisconsin, so I'm pretty sure I'll be able to find some room for a radiator and fan. Any thoughts on this before I get my mind too set on it?

I would think the radiator would be the largest hurdle as well as a fan to draw air thru it. I'm pretty sure one of the other 6xx (631 or 632) series had a water cooled engine so maybe a look at one of them would help with the placement.
Does the Kubota have a govener set up, if not that could be tricky too

I'm also realizing that not only do I have to account for the radiator and fan for the engine cooling, but also something to replace the Wisconsin's fan which blows through the radiator for the hydraulic radiator. Hmmm...

If you can place the radiator above the hydraulic oil radiator (like the 743) the fan can push through both radiators. HTH

The 630 is going to need work one way or another. Probably start in the spring. I think it is going to be a matter of pulling the Wisconsin out, setting the Kubota in there, and seeing what I think at that point.
