I spent most of the summer disassembling the 743 and rebuilding the bobtach. I hope to begin assembly next spring. Over the winter, I will to attempt to rebuild the control valve as it has showed evidence of leaking from the control actuator area. I removed the valve unit yesterday and have it on the bench. My question is what should I adress in this effort and is there a good source for parts? Thanks, Richard

Good to hear you are getting stuck into it.
I get my seals from the locak hydraulics shop. Take samples in and they should be able to match them. They use quad rings on either end of the spools.
You will need to get the rubber boots from the dealer though, the rest you don't need to buy genuine.

I hope to get the valve body cleaned and begin disassembly by this weekend. I trust there will be no suprises like springs and balls flying off to who knows where. Richard

two of them will have springs and balls that will go flying, the one for the aux. and the one for the boom, they are the detent to hold them in place, the aux where you can put it in continious flow without having to hold the handle, and the boom to hold it in the float position. if you will push them from the front out the back you can remove them without pulling the collar off of them causing the springs and balls to go to places unknown, some of the 743's have a 4th spool that is not used unless you have outriggers, but it needs seals put in it too, that is where mine started leaking even tho it wasn't used. Not a hard job, just use plenty of lube on the new seals when you put them in.

With it out, replace the hydraulic hose that goes from the under side of the pump to the port block. If later it breaks from age, it is almost impossible to replace without pulling the control block out again.
As mentioned, there are springs and balls for the detent on the lift and aux hydraulics. Just be careful when sliding the cap off. It is MUCH easier tp put them back in when the control block is out. I used a heavy duty cable tie to hold the balls in while i slid the cover back on.
Yep, use lots of oil when putting it back together.

Hope the rebuild goes smoothly. I'll likely at some point end up doing mine also and a few pictures would be helpful for us all if you can. Thanks.

I never got to rebuilding the valve. I spent a fair amount of time cleaning the outside. I loosened all the bolts but have not disassembled anything. Over the winter of 2012- 2013 I was diagnosed with a degenerative neurological disease with no cure. This makes it impossible to work on or even use the bobcat. I will have to pay someone to assemble it so I can sell it. The assembler says he will re-build the control valve but tasked me to find the O-rings. Does anyone know a source on the web ( I do not have a drivers license) where I could order the necessary O-rings? Part numbers and or dimensions would help as well. Thanks, Richard

That isn't some good news at all..... I wish you all the best.
As for the seals, the dealer will have these available, then you know they are the rite ones.
