I'm planning to buy a new bolt on bucket edge then take a plasma cutter to cut teeth out of the edge. Anyone see any issues with that. It should give me a nice set of digging teeth while being able to smooth out dirt because the teeth (cut form the smooth edge) will not extend below the bucket.

I believe you can buy ones pre-cut like that. They do it with a profile cutter when cutting the plate.
I can see it helping some, i just don't know how effective it will be vs a set of good teeth.

Yes you can buy, but I think they run over $1000. I can buy an smooth edge for a little over $200. The nice thing about this type of edge - cut from smooth edge - is you can smooth dirt when backing up almost as nice as when using a smooth bucket edge. The teeth stick down too farm below the bucket. The question is will the plasma cutter ruin the temper in the steel? And if it is ruined what are the consequences? Soft, brittle??? I'm not to concerned with it being soft as I won't use the bucket near as much as a professional would; just for acreage and light farm use.

I don't believe the plasma will harm it, the eat is very concentrated.
1k for one like that is insane, a few hours with a plasma and you will get the same results.
If you do it, please take pictures!

You can do it guy, I've done it for my 15" backhoe bucket on my 709. I haven't seen any problems and I put all the hoe's breakout forces on individual teeth ocasionally.
That said, the bobcat bolt on teeth can't be beat for a bucket.
