Just started asking some brand-preference questions in the weekly poll on the ForConstructionPros.com's email newsletter (see the results of Who Makes Your Favorite Backhoe? at this URL: http://www.forconstructionpros.com/news/10416586/who-makes-your-favorite-backhoe). I'll be glad to report the skid steer results on this forum on Friday. Sure would appreciate getting your opnions in the meantime here: http://www.forconstructionpros.com/news/10443934/who-makes-your-favorite-skid-steer Thanks, Larry

Results are in: Bobcat is the top skid steer brand, according to the poll, with nearly 24% of the vote. The surprise, to me at least, is that JCB came in at No. 2 with almost 20%. See how Cat, Case, Deere and the rest fared here: http://www.forconstructionpros.com/news/10447339/contractors-prefer-bobcat-skid-steers Thanks for your help, Larry

Any newer polls? I'm very close to buying a JCB 260.

Stay far away from JCB. Every single example of their product line I have touched was a pile of junk.
You couldn't give me a Bobcat, their controls suck. Most every one I've been in has been jerky , even the new ones which aren't jerky yet you have to fight the controls and stretch your arms out longer than they are to get full forward travel. Any other brand here

BOBCATS are the only machines I've owned or operated. I like them because I feel so familiar with them at this point. I've fixed quite a few control related issues that cause the jerky-ness that comes with the lever arms wearing out or even breaking. I think they are good machines, because so many people demand them in my area. I'm pretty certain that INGERSOLL-RAND makes them now. MELROE used t make them, in their infancy...

Bobcat is actually now owned by Doosan, a Korean company. They are now starting to migrate over to Doosan engines from Kubota.
I am a big Bobcat fan as well, but I am leery about some of their latest offerings. Time will tell.
Cheers - SR

its all what you are used to I have put thousands of hours in the seat of bobcats have run deere and mustangs also. If I get in anything other than the 2 lever foot control machines it takes time to get the hang of it and still dont feel completely comfortable
