I have a late 90's t190 bobcat. My problem started out with the traction light coming on and going off. When on would operate fine when off it would set the brake. With some maneuvering the light would come back on and free brakes. Now the left side brake is locking up to the point that you cant even move the machine but the right side moves even with the parking brake set. Noticed the seal between the left side drive unit and brake assembly was leaking. Tore it down and replaced seals nothing apparent wrong with the brakes when i had it apart. I put it back together and the brake is still locking up. I have no pressure to the right side brake assembly. I now have it at the bobcat dealer and they tell me I need two new drive assemblies. This sounds a little wierd to me. I know there is a brake valve. Isn't it posible that the valve could be the problem. Bobcat says they wont be able to tell until the install the new motors. This just seems like the are trying to stick new parts on until the find out what it is. Any suggestions.

I have never worked on a T machine, but surely the brake assembily can be repaired, and not simply throw a new motor at it.
I'm sure someone will jump in and give you more suggestions though.

Hopefully, but i have got quotes to rebuild the brakes and when all is said and done its cheaper to get whole new assemblies. Bobcat is really proud of there parts.

No doubt tahts because they feel its easier for them to just install a new motor as they factor labour and parts in.
I know the brakes are hydraulically operated, i just don't fully understand how its done though. There can't be too much to it.

If they are anything like the T300 drive motors the brake is on the backside of the drive motor under a plate. There isn't much too them. I am hoping to have my T300 manual scanned in a bit. (it is over 500 pages, front and back) It should at least give you the general idea anyhow.
