642b point gap

If it's the same as the 742 with a Mitsubishi 4G32 it's .018"-.021" and the timing is 5 deg BTDC at 600-650 RPM. At 2800 RPM with vacuum line off it should be 10 degreees advanced.

i put new points in.but there is pressure on the vacuum advance line not vacuum. it runs like the choke is on,sooting up the plugs.

Is the vacuum line hooked up right at the base of the carburetor? Does it get vacuum when you rev it up?

timing belt was off 1 tooth. after i changed it now it wont start. so i put it back. doesnt rev up it just runs worse. no vacuum anywhere. it was running good last week. i will check compression next.
