I am embarassed to say that my brother and I attempted to put a new (rebuilt) starter on our 4625. We originally switched th wires and when I went to connect the power to the battery, it sparked so I immediately pulled it away. Later I corrected the wiring and now I have absolutely no power to anything--no lights no power at all. Can anyone give me suggestions to check? Is there some main fuse or breaker I can check? Help.........

There must be fuses somewhere but i can't tell you where, i have never worked on one of these machines. They can be hidden behind inspection plates or inside plastic covers. Have you tried contacting your local dealer and asking at all?
Good luck

Take your 12 volt test light and try to chase the power from the battery along the main power wires. Wire can has fusible links built in to them but more likely there is a main fuse blown somewhere. Worst case run a power wire to the injection pump an another to the key or start solenoid and try to get it running. It may be easier to diagnose then. Also don't rule out calling a dealer or two, some can be quite helpful and may fax you crucial information.
Sorry I have no specific knowledge.

I don't know what year your machine is but the circuit breakers on a newer machine are on the instrument panel below the warning lights. Make sure your starter is wired right, power for your system piggy-backs off the post on the starter that your positive battery cable hooks to_On my starter there are two posts that have wires connected, the larger post will have the battery cable and the smaller red wire that energizes the electrical system. The other post has a wire that connects to the solenoid on the side of engine compartment. scott

Please see my initial post where I stated "I am embarassed". Immediately after I read your post I am certain that I still don't have it wired correct. That's what happens when hackers like me try to save money. The secodn time I changed the wiring I put ONLY the power cable on the big post and the wire to the switch AND the selonoid wires on the other post. If I read you correct yours saying that I sould put the power AND switch wire on the big post? It makes sense that I wouldn't have power the way I had it. I will try again. Thanks for your advice. If this works I will let you knoa and then will want your address to send you a gift certificate-----------I am serious. Gene

I have removed the starter and dropped the bottom bolt. Would you know what the size, length and type of thread as I will have to go to the hardware store to get a new one.

I believe it is a Metric 8x25mm or 10x25 mm, the bolts usually have flared or shouldered head.I'd spend a few bucks and get 30mm just in case the others are too short. this is from memory. As far as a gift certificate is concerned,I'd rather not take anything. This site is a gold mine of info if you take the time to go through the threads.I'm happy to help and give back a little what I have received. scott

I am excited to tell you that the skidloader started and ran. Now two followup questions. First we managed to lose the nut that holds the top of the starter on. Would you know what size that is and what thread. Finally, and I do mean finally, I think I may have ruined the battery a couple of days ago when I hooked the starter up wrong as now I have to jump the batery with another vehicle to start it even after I have been charging it for several hours. Do you think that could have ruined it? It was new when I started. At this point I would be thrilled to pay $100 to top off this project. Gene

Take it to your favourite battery store for a load test and you will know. Short of burning the posts off the top with a dead short it should not hurt it. perhaps they will stand behind it if its doa. Its not frozen from being dead by any chance? That they will not waranty.

^^^ seconded.
I's also give it a chance to charge overnight, just to be sure even if you give it a good charge then ask for them to give it a test, its easy for them to check.

I'm not sure what nut you are referring to. It's probably metric, something you can pick up when you have the battery checked. scott
