Having some strange problems, please help... Bought a 04 LS190.B w/ 200 hrs at auction recently. All ok then. Installed a fecon rotating tree grapple, which took alot of customizing, including running a switch box to the cab. Worked fine for a day. Only issues were the display was reading 11 volts occationally, I didn't think much of it, and it sputtered at full throttle, but I just thought it was getting too much fuel and needed adjusted. Then I got it stuck in the snow pulling a tree out and it leaned a little to the left (nothing major at all), and died (it didn't sputter, it was like you turned off the key). Wouldn't restart, blew several fuses. Replaced fuses, different ones blew. Repeated. Usually the EIC/starter fuses would blow along with other random ones when I turned the key to run. The glow plug light wouldn't even come on in run mode. Would start in service mode, but with no lights on display, occaitionally it would read "ACC". Looked for hot to ground shorts, found a couple possible ones, checked ground cables, didn't find anything that was obviously the problem. Then it quit popping fuses, started w/ display lights in service mode. In run mode it will crank (w/ display lights all normal except an oil pres light is on) but not start. I shouldn't be concerned about the oil pres light being on before starting, thats normal right? Still get a low voltage display of 10-12 volts when starting, but it will crank for a long time, and I even hooked it up to my diesel truck which should have enough power for it. Why would it fire right up in service mode, but just crank in normal? Also, in service mode, I can't move the machine, which according to the manual I should have wheel power but just no boom power, right? I'm going to try a new batt and alternator today, just because I can't think of what else it could be. Any help would be MUCH appreciated!

Well, new battery makes no difference, but it needed it anyways. Please help, I feel like I'm banging my head against the wall!

when the machine leaned over did the seat move a little sideways? Maybe seat switch or seatbelt switch got out of place or a wire grounded on a bare spot under there. just a guess.

Thats not it, thanks though. If I remove either it will not turn over at all. I also checked what I think are the engine oil pressure sending unit and 2 transmission sending units of some kind, removing either makes no change.

Did you check out all the electrical threads in this forum on this kind of thing? I see one involving a diode on a ls185 down farther on the page. Those who know will probably be along here shortly to help.

Blowing fuses and no longer starting, could it be a bad fuel shut down solenoid has shorted out?

Jerry, thanks. I did check those, but they seem to be slightly different problems. Nevertheless, I've checked or replaced all the relays in the main fuse box. I don't see a diode on mine... Tazza, thanks, but I called my dealer and the tech said that a bad fuel shut down solenoid would cause it to also not run in service mode. I checked an online parts break down and that solenoid appears to be on the fuel injection pump. It is on the outside towards the bottom of the pump with a wire going to it, right? I checked it with my test light with the key in run and starting in both normal and service mode and it has no power going to it. I removed the wire and no change... At the recommendation of the service tech, I also locked out the aux hydraulics at the handle, that made no change. He said that's the only other possibility, aside from fuses, relays, and bad wires! (Great)... I have a tech coming out tomorrow (suposedly), but with the 3 hour drive he'll have just to get here I'm sure it will be VERY expensive!..... To me it's really acting like its not getting fuel (but only normal mode, because it starts right up in service mode), but I can come up with no explanation for it. Any other ideas would me much appreciated. Thanks!

Thanks to everyone! I got it fixed today. It was that darn diode. It was tucked behind a wire harness and I didn't even see it at first. Even the NH tech on the phone had no idea that could be it!

My '05 Ls185.b blew a diode (there are 2 on mine). It took the dealer a week to find it--they were never trained on it whe I bought it new in '05. I keep a spare zip-tied and painted orange to the wire harness. It has never blown since--prolly 'cuz ther's a spare next to it. Spares cost $15!!!
