Good Morning, I changed the fuel filter on my 1980 model 1835c, 3-cylinder Case diesel engine uniloader and now it won't start. I bled each injector by running the starter until fuel came out each one of them. I filled the fuel filter with fuel before I installed it but a lot of fuel drained out of the bottom holes of the filter when it took 15-20 seconds to put the filter in place and install the hold down latch. Any idea how I can get it started. I did use a little starter fluid but it still wouldn't start. I put a new group 31P battery in it too. Thanks for any advice, Jdubya

I assume it ran well before you did the filter change?
Some times, bleeding the fuel system on some engines can be quite hard.
Do you have a primer bulb or other priming pump? I'm wondering if you can pressureise the fuel more before the injector pump it may help get the pocket of air out that may be there.

When I parked it, It would run and then cut off, then you could crank it back and it would run for a few mins. and cut off. I found out the oil pressure was low making it do that so I filled it will oil. The oil pressure light does go out now when you spin the starter. It does not have any kind of bulb or pump to pressurize the system. All it has is the electric injector pump. I guess it could be the glow plugs. Thanks Tazza for your help. Oh.... I forgot to say that the air filter got dirty and sucked a good bit of oil out of the engine and that's why the oil pressure dropped. That was corrected when I changed the air filters and filled it with oil.

If it's an eletric fuel pump, could that be bad?
Are you getting smoke when it's cranking? If not, i don't believe the glow plugs are an issue. Shite smoke is unburnt fuel, the blow plugs will help heat the cylinders enough to get that to burn. If there isn't fuel, no amount of heat will help.
I'd like to think the issue is something simple.
